using a Casio E125 Total
Score Link: For more information, go to
the Cecraft home page. The Game iGolf by Cecraft is
probably the best golf game that I’ve seen for the pocket PC. With all of its
features and courses, you’ll be spending hours on the golf course and never
leave the comfort of your home, not to mention all the money you’ll be saving on
greens fees and golf cart rentals. Play You begin
play from the main screen where you have the option to “Tee Off”, play a
“Network” game or go through their extensive tutorial. Once you decide weather
you’re playing a solo or network game, you then select your course. One last
option before hitting the links is to select a player. There are four players
available to you, all with differing power, spin and accuracy. Select your
player and you’re off to the first hole! Controls Once you’ve selected a
club and how you want the ball to roll after landing, you’re ready to take a
swing. The swing control is much simpler than others in that it is superimposed
over your golfer and is large enough that you don’t go blind trying to catch it
at just the right moment for that perfect swing. By clicking on the
SWING button, it rotates through three different options. The first is for a
normal swing and by clicking it a second time, you have the option to over power
your swing. But beware, while in this over power mode, you must be more accurate
than in normal mode. Click a third time and it removes the swing control from
the screen in case you decide to use the nine iron instead of the
eight! Courses iGolf comes with one
course (PalmGolf Classic Golf Course) already installed and as of this date,
there is one other course available for download (Black Eagle Golf Club).
Included with the installation is the iGolf Course Manager software. This
software allows you to download and install new course onto your Pocket PC.
There are to be eight other courses to be available this year, all at no extra
charge. Network Game Support One of the best
features that I found with iGolf was the ability to play a network game via a
modem or network connection. With this option you can play with up to 4 other
players. If you don’t have a modem or networked pocket PC, don’t fret, Cecraft
also provides you with a PC executable version of iGolf that can be played right
on your home (or work) computer. With this program, you can play iGolf as though
you were on your pocket PC, including the network game support via your normal
internet connection. Storage and Requirements When installed with only one
course, iGolf takes up about 1.5MB of space, and with three courses installed,
you’ll need about 2.5MB of free space on your Pocket PC. The only drawback that
I found with the game was that as I was playing the game, your Pocket PC memory
slowly diminishes. However, I was able to get through an entire game without any
problems, just don’t have anything else running at the same time as your
game! The Verdict All in all, iGolf is one of the
best golf games I’ve seen for the Pocket PC with several unique features and
great graphics.
